I grabbed one of these "Cheap" 85mm 1.4 lenses from Cameta for $250. Thinking of getting a Katz eye, but the focus indicator seems to work pretty good on the D300.
Grabbed a few quick shots hours after I received it.
First thoughts, it's sharp at 1.4 (when focused correctly). But the CA is crazy wide open. But Bokeh is nice!
After importing them into lightroom I noticed they lack quite a bit of contrast and the yellows and red seem to clip a little.
Anyway, here's some samples, all shot wide open.

CA is bad in this one.
Nikon D300 : @85mm : 1/800th : f1.4 : 200 ISO : AV Mode : +1/3 Exp Comp
Nikon D300 : @85mm : 1/5000th : f1.4 : 200 ISO : AV Mode : +1/3 Exp Comp
Nikon D300 : @85mm : 1/800th : f1.4 : 200 ISO : AV Mode : +1/3 Exp Comp
You can see you really have to nail the focus @ 1.4

Here's it mounted:
