Takumar 55mm f/1.8 M42 mount

I didn't see an existing thread for this little guy, so I thought I'd get us started.

A lot of people are talking about the big brother, the Takumar 50mm f/1.4. While a good lens, IMO, I actually think the 55mm provides better color rendition, and is slightly sharper at f/1.8 when compared to the 50mm @ f/1.8. You can also find the 55mm much cheaper. The 55mm version (at least SMC) also has no clearance issues when focusing to infinity on the Canon 5D, whereas many reports indicate mirror contact with the 50mm version.

I purchased my lens here in Chicago from Craigslist for ~$25. I also use an AF M42-EOS adapter (EMF Version) from Rainbow Imaging.

Keep in mind there are various version of the lens, including the SMC / Super and Auto. Please share with us which version you have.

When posting photos, please give any and all information in regards to the photo that you can. This extra information will give more information about how the photo was taken and with what camera body.

Example:

Canon 5D : 1/200th : f1.8 : 1600 ISO : M Mode

No need to specify focal length, unless you've done something amazing, we'll just assume it's 55mm.. :)
