I picked up a Zeiss/Contex 50mm 1.4 on eBay last month for less than $300, and I'm very happy with it. I also got a 35mm 2.8 for slightly less. Prices used to be lower, but videographers and filmmakers have driven up the prices on used manual primes. They're still thousands cheaper than new Zeiss glass.
