Foggy beach pics~~~ PLease HELP! - 07-07-2009, 10:41 AM

So My family and I are in Port Aransas and not ever having taken beach pics I was TOTALLY unaware of the effect of the CRAZY high humidity effects!! So I've read on here you need to leave camera in car in a plastic bag for like two hours to let it get use to the outside temp... So I've done that and will re-try the pics again but wondering is there anything I can do to fix the ones we took this morning?

So today I've learned you can't change your camera's temp that drastically! Large lesson I learned! We were all cute in matching clothes etc... grrrrr so mad at myself right now!!

I don't know of any way to fix a fogged up shot. Sorry. For future reference, yes, if you are going from an air conditioned condo to the hot, humid outdoors, or visa versa, you can eliminate the fogging by putting your camera and lens in zip lock bag before you walk outside or before you go back inside. I wouldn't say you have to leave it in the bag for 2 hours. Usually 10-15 minutes or so should be sufficient. I use this trick anywhere there are big temp extremes - and it worked in hot, humid Thailand and chilly British Columbia. Good luck getting everyone back into their clothes, etc. for another shot at this.

I dont think you can fix the fogged shots. Its like there is a haze over the image. I would work with it if you want to keep the shots and make it look foggy.

Also - do NOT relay on your LCD screen to see if your exposure is correct while shooting on the beach. You'll cry when you get home if you do that. Use your histograms.

If you are in a hurry and don't have time for the hour or more in a plastic bag, I recommend a two minute warm up with a hair dryer. I keep one by the outside door of my camera room. Works like a charm.

Don't put your cameras where the ac will get to them. Try and keep the temp by putting a hand warmer in the camera bag. The same thing can happen to you P&S camera too.

air conditioned cameras don't get along well with hot humid areas. I've even kept my camera bag on our hotel balcony out of the air conditioning so they're ready at any time. (that is if you have a balcony) camcorders are even worse to dry out

Yeah not much you can do about a fogged lens. Good luck getting the pics. When you looked through the viewfinder was it not look out of focus?
