There is water in West Texas! Enough for some beginning wake surfers to have a good workout on Lake Greenbelt near Clarendon. (1) The launch stance  (2) Surfing the wake -- forward momentum comes from the energy of the wake, not from being pulled by the rope. It's only used to come up out of the water onto the board.
