I'm VERY new at this. These were shot in and around Palo Duro Canyon with a Nikon D40 (using the kit lens). Please let me know what you think.

Of course this is only one man's opinion and not gospel....

Too much sharpening in photoshop causes these halos. The original image needs a lot less processing to avoid these.

Lighten the foreground and mountain and darken the sky. The eye goes to the lightest area first, but I assume it is not what you want me to focus on

I like the effects and composition, but again the sky is too light.

Focus should have been all the way to the front (left pole) of the fence and crop the billboard out of there!
