2006 TPF Shoots - 12-27-2005, 01:10 PM

Are there any plans for any Texas wide forum meetups ? Maybe a full weekend shooting 'somewhere' with a semi-planned/researched list of places ?

I'd love to get together with a group of likeminded people to shoot around the state.

Austin/hill country might be a good candidate for April - after all, just about every photoworkshop in the US ends up here around then !

But what other ideas do people have ? What are the big draws through the year ?

What destinations would you like to go to ? Anyone interested in this ?

I've had great experiences on photoworkshops - I love the group shooting and particularly sharing images after the fact. With a bit of organisation and a projector we could even show
and discuss images from the days shoot. I find I get a huge amount out of seeing what other people saw, when standing a few yards from me - it's always a surprise!

There was one in Austin earlier this year that was a lot of fun. There were TPF members from all over Texas that showed up, I would love to do another one.

I will be in Ft. Davis, TX from April 23 thru 28th, maybe to the 29th. I could meet up somewhere between there and Houston that weekend of the 29th.

Mind if I ask what you will be doing there? I am hankering for some good photographs from *the west*.

Glen, I will be at the Texas Star Party held at the Prude Ranch in Ft. Davis. Its a week long astronomy event, usually between 400 and 700 people are there. If the weather is good its sleep during the day and up all night looking at stars.

I think the Austin area is central to most of us. From Houston to Dallas ,etc.

It has hills, lakes, music, food, missions, history, etc.

No lack of photogenic subjects. However, no lack of searing heat either.

The last couple years a group of people from FM have met up at the LBJ wildflower center one weekend in April. That might be worth considering, especially if we have a good wildflower year.

I wonder how well they'll do, considering the ridiculously warm, dry fall we had here in Austin though. I think a wet autumn and a cold winter are required for good wildflowers - we've had about as far from that as possible.

Any interest in a Big Bend trip in the spring? Big Bend is one of my favorite places in the world to go shoot.
