Went to visit the Chinati Contemporary Art Museum in Marfa, Texas this past weekend. These are just random pics but I love this place. Sooo many art galleries to see. The cafes and restaurants reminding me of nyc. Everything had a very urban feel to it. Who knew. sorry the pics are ginormous.

A couple weeks ago we took a week vacation to head out and visit my wife's mom in Silver City NM. On the way back we stopped in Marfa and stayed with friends for a couple days.
As Ricardo above says, if you're anywhere near, stop on by, and make sure to take the Chinati Foundation tour. One of the art installations is a fabulous visual dialog on color (photo 1). There are also sculptures (photo 2), poetry, and drawings. They are all housed in an old fort's barracks. In town there are a bunch of galleries, including a photo gallery on the main street leading to the courthouse. And they let you climb the courthouse stairs into the tower, throw open the windows, and take pics (photo 3). This picture is at noon, and I meant to go back the next day a lot earlier or later, but you know how hanging with friends is.
Also, there is a great coffee bar/photo gallery called the Brown Recluse. Stop in and say hello to the photographer and owner LeAna if you happen by. And Hwy. 90 is a much nicer way than IH10 to get back to Austin or San Antonio from west Texas, if you want photo ops.
