Canadian River at Flood Stage - 08-20-2008, 07:51 AM

Here is something you don't see everyday. After about 10" of rain over the past 3 days, the Canadian River north of Amarillo hit 7 1/2' and the volume of Lake Meredith is expected to double over the next week. The lake was down to a little over 40 feet and is expected to rise 10 feet. For our part of the world, that's news.

We are having buckets of rain here too. My pool is about to float away and the current flowing down the street is getting old. I think I should start a blog of things that have floated down the street in the past few days. lol.

Hereford had around 7 1/2" Friday or Saturday night and they just filled up, since there isn't any downhill over there. 1" of hard rain in 30 minutes in Lubbock puts about a foot in the intersection! When your flat, you just get deeper.
