Hello all. I've made a spontaneous decision to take my sons (ages 6, 6, and 7) camping this weekend. We're from Ft. Worth and going to Enchanted Rock because it looks like the weather will be decent down there, not too terribly hot. Never been to Enchanted Rock before, and wondering if there are any recommendations for things to do or avoid with kids this age? We'll be there Saturday noon until Monday.
The "Summit Trail" is a given and from what I've seen appears easy and safe enough for energetic kids. What other trails would you recommend for the young'uns, and for the best photo ops? How about the "Loop Trail" - we wouldn't make it all the way around the whole park, but how about counterclockwise from the main camping area to the scenic outlook and back again?
They've been camping a dozen times by now, but always with my wife along. This is my first time to wrangle them all alone for a guys only trip. I'm thinking they're finally old enough and well-behaved enough to not fall off a cliff while I'm taking photos. ;) We'll be camping in the regular area near the facilities, not backpacking.
I sure appreciate any advice, and will share some photos if they turn out well. Thanks! |
