Do ya like to shop? That'll keep you busy...
There's the granite mound close by (state park) (to lazy to look up the name). Only one of 2 in the US (world?) I believe...
it's winter so there's probably not much going on at the wildflower farm outside of town...
but make your first stop, St Mary's Church - haven't seen but it's listed as on of the painted churches...

I like to shop, just don't have the money for it.
I'll have to look up St. Mary's.
After I posted this question I looked up the Chamber of Commerce site for Fredericksburg and found that they have two winery's in the area. One of them is showcasing some special outhouses....lol...I think they are called "Thunderbox Road Art Exhibit". They built 12 outhouses and sent them to different Texas artists to decorate. Should make for some interesting photogrpahy.
Thanks for the info by the way!

Gotta check out Enchanted Rock (that mound thing). If you are into history try the Nimitz museum. There is a tunnel nearby where bats live, but they are probably gone in the winter. Spring is really the time for the Hill Country when the bluebonnets are blooming.

Food. Wine. Beer. Find the Herb Nursery. The old "Sunday Houses" are interesting. Get off the main street and away from all the Rubber Neckers. Beer. Wine. Food.
Enjoy!

The tunnel is the remnants one of the 1st railroad tunnels Texas. Unless you are SERIOUSLY into history, trains and/or bat poop, i would pass. Don't think you can get into the tunnel anyway. Bat viewing is May-October. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild...ma/list/?id=17

Linda, Comfort is just 22 miles away from Fredericksburg. There is a night time Xmas parade on Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend starting at 7:00 p.m. on High street during Xmas in Comfort. I'll be there. 1000's of people will be viewing the parade. Enjoy your weekend!!

Everyone has given me some good ideas of what I can do, I appreciate it very much!
I'll be sure to post some pics when we get back.

This might have to go on the list.

iirc, Sunday Houses are houses built in the city for the family to use before/after church. Many churches had all-day services, with a break during the middle. (Eventually this grew into the common Sunday morning and separate Sunday night sevice.)
The family could go to the Sunday home Saturday evening, get the weekly bath and get to church on time. Then after morning services, an afternoon at "home" gave them a break before going back for Sunday evening services. The shorter travel also meant that their Sunday clothes stayed a bit cleaner.
Eventually they became weekend homes, closer to shopping and such, but the name Sunday House had by then stuck.
Obviously these were limited to the citizens of means.....

Ranchers who lived a good ways out of town built them as I recall reading an explanation on one of them. They were simple in the beginning. Not a lot of "means" were required. Several have been restored and rent out to Rubber Neckers.
