iPhone tip: Turn pdf's into iBooks for on the go reference - 03-10-2011, 06:10 PM

I found this useful and thought I would pass it along. I am constantly referring to my camera owners manual, my flash owners manual, my pocket field guide, my how to pose guide and on and on.

If you have an iPhone there is an easy way to carry all that and many other documents and books with you for quick reference.

I started by downloading my owners manual for my camera and flash, in PDF format. This can be done on the phone or you can do it at your pc and then email it to yourself and view it on the phone.

When you view it on the phone, click the ARROW in the top right of the iPhone, it gives you a choice to "Open in iBooks". Once opened in iBooks it is saved and now very easy to look up what you need, while in the field.

I've been doing that as well but with concert tickets I buy that come in PDF format... instead of printing them and trying to keep up with them, theyll just scan my phone. =)

Yup, I loaded my camera and strobe manual in PDF to iTunes and synchronized them into my iBook shelf. Now I have the all the time.

It also works if you use Stanza for your ebooks, you can email them or drag-n-drop via iTunes

Nice tip.

No need to email if they're already on your PC. they will show up in iBooks under the 'PDFs" tab.

I skipped that...I got GoodReader, and just transfer the documents I need, in any format.
