Ok, so I get the feed from
Project Gutenberg sent to my RSS reader. For those who aren't aware, Project Gutenberg is a place where you can download free ebooks whose copyrights have expired.
Anyway, upon browsing it just now I see that they've recently posted "Making Your Camera Pay" by Frederick C. Davis. Obviously this piqued my interest so I checked it out (especially since it was written in 1921). I just wanted to share the book with y'all because I thought y'all might enjoy it/get a kick out of it, too. My favorite part so far is the first two sentences from the second chapter, "The Tools Of The Trade".

Have you ever wakened in the drear dead of a dismal night, possessed body and soul with a great desire—an incontrollable, all-moving, all-consuming, maddening desire that knows no satisfaction—a desire for a new camera or a better lens? It is a sensation more disconcerting than that of the father who is detected by his small son in the act of rifling the latter's bank for car-fare.
