Go out and shoot something that best represents 'labor', then post your best shot here.

These assignments are completely at the discretion of the photographer which is what makes them so much fun.

LABOR

What does that mean to you? I don't know but I bet it means something different to you than it means to me.

You take a photo and post it here. It will be looked at by others. Some may C&C it, some won't. You will look at others photos of LABOR. Some you'll like, some you won't. Some you'll understand and some you won't.

It's fun....

Does it have to be actually "TAKEN" after today, or can it be one taken previously?

I may be wrong (and am happy to be corrected) but it seems to me that the sparse rules in this forum fall somewhere between libertarianism and nihilism -- there ain't many stinkin' rules. It's a creativity exercise, so I doubt anyone would blast you for posting a creative application of the concept just because it was taken in April, not September.

Just sit in a darkened room in a lotus position for 20 minutes, repeat the mantra "ohm - labor - ohm labor" then go shoot something. (Note - the zen preparation is not actually one of the rules of this forum.)

Good assignment, Brad! I plan to submit a more traditional image about labor, and this one here is just humorous for now. In white collar professions (or "knowledge workers" for some HR techies) we spend lots of time on the phone these days, as travel has been curtailed quite a bit due to the recession. So what to do while on the phone? Here is an example of modern day labor. It doesn't look like labor, does it?

Nothing artistic as I was standing in the middle of Times Square (and scared to death) but after visiting Ground Zero and 10 House earlier in the day, I had to get a shot of the Hell's Kitchen fire truck. But, in the spirit of the assignment, between public transportation and the fire department in NYC, I don't know who "labors" harder - at least in NYC. Of course, FedX only works hard when they actually get our boxes to us on time.

Cpt. Tom, I saw the email on this thread and thought I had misspelled something and you were making fun of me - not like that would ever happen.

I'd never make fun of my favorite Blonde photographer in Springtown.
