Ok.. for July's assignment, you'll probably want a tripod... any topic you want... but make it a long exposure.
(I've been trying to make the assignments a little more challenging lately... if people would rather go back to easier ones, that could be arranged.)

Ah, now this is an assignment I can do. Not being digitally challenged, I can make really really long exposures. I'm up for this!

Define long exposure however you want... but figure it should be at least 3 seconds.

Assignments are open to interpretation.. there is no real right or wrong.
The purpose of a long exposure assignment is both to tackle some unique challenges of this technique (needing tripods, shutter vibrations, reciprocal failures on some sensors) and to show some of the cool things you can do with longer exposures (different saturation levels, blurring water and motion, night photography).
As I just told someone in email.. the idea is to stretch yourself.. to do something that you might not do normally.. and see if you can adapt what you learn into your day to day photography.

Still looks nice, Jeffrey. I like it.
Pamela: Looks like your tripod wasn't completely stable.. that or the exposure was a little too long and you started getting some reciprocal failure on the sensor.. can't really tell. Generally for a shot like this, you want to shoot for making the sky completely black.. if you shot on an auto or semi auto (Av or Tv) mode, the meter tried to make the sky gray.
