This is a student's work. He took a stock photo and used photoshop to give it an evening effect.

As a professional Soldier, and an amateur photographer, there is only one thing that comes to mind when I think about 5 PM...
That's the sound of "Retreat" being played across my military installation. Don't let the name retreat mislead you; Retreat is the name of the military ceremony of lowering our Nation's flag at the end of the day. (the ceremony of raising the flag each morning is called reveille) Retreat was historically played at sunset as a signal for scouting parties to return to the installation before dark.
This daily ceremony has been, and will continue to be, a part of my way of life. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be at 5 PM (or 1700 hours for you military folks) then rendering proper honors to the flag of our great Nation.
(The photo is not that great, but the meaning runs through my veins)
Thanks for looking,
Keith:) | | | |

Keith:) | Keith, I think you nailed it. Do they still fire a cannon at reville and retreat? They had one that they fired off every morning while my guard unit was there in the late 70's. My group co was so taken with it he wanted one for our armory (we are an air guard unit, go figure why we wouldn't have one ) anyway he mention this to his xo. And lo and behold late one night a M151 tows it right out the main gate passed the MP's. Since I was assigned to Carswell AFB during the incident I was the only one brave (or was that dumb ) enough to have my picture taken with it at the armory. It's a fine picture, thanks for serving
