Assignment Section Question - 10-04-2005, 11:32 AM

Sorry I may be missing it, but I'm a little confused how the assignment section works. I've participated in "weekly assignments" at fredmiranda.com, but would like to do the same here, since I live here in Texas. Is there a link that explains the logic of participation ? Rules, etc., ?

Thanks.
Randy

Hi Randy! We have a few things in the assignment section. We have weekly "assigment" topics, pretty open to interpretation any way you wish. I don't think we have a set limit on how many you can post, and there isn't really a contest here, just something to get you out there shooting. We have "creativity exercises" that have their own set of rules, usually at the top of each exercise. We also have fun "photoshop challenges" that aren't really on an exact schedule. We leave it open for about a week, have voting for a few days, declare a winner, then the winner has to submit a picture for the next challenge. The only rule here is only one entry per person.

Holly said it well..

I'm the one who usually posts the Theme Assigments.. I have a list of ones people suggested, and I also use ones that come to me based on current events/time of year/etc... I started out posting them every week, but thought that maybe more people would participate if that fell to every other week...

As for how it works, a Theme is posted (such as the first one, "Whiskers") and then people add a post with their interpretation of the theme.. discussion about them is encouraged, and anybody can post anything they want (it doesn't have to be new) as long as they feel it fits the theme. Its essentially a way to get the creative juices flowing... to look at the world around in you in a different way.

Oh, and there is no time limit. Like I said, I'm currently posting a new theme every other week (next one is this Friday).. but feel free to submit to older ones. Those threads weren't closed with the idea that someone just joining us could submit if they wished.

There are lots of "contest based" theme assignments out there, we wanted to be a little different here.
