OK, I stole this idea, but it's a darn good idea. Just wondering if there are enough interested photographers in the Austin area to start something like this up. Get together once a month or so and just talk photography. I would love to glean any info I can from some established photographers. Learn from the people that love what they do and get paid well to do it. Well, let's hear from some weirdos here in Austin and let's get this group started. What say you???

It already exists on facebook... look for the "austinphotogs" group. There last meeting was on August 27.

I was told by the admin of that group that Studio 563 also puts on mixers from time to time.

Not saying I am not down for having another group in Austin, just wanted to let you know in case you didn't. If you decide to set something up, let me know.

If you search meetup... there is an Austin Gathering of Photographers at the Alpha & Omega studio the first Thursday of the month. As in today.

Dan I would say give it a shot here, picka date and a time and go for it. other TPF'ers may not know about the other group or may never go to those websites.

If find here in dallas you never know who is turning up and we always seem to have a good turnout.

The one I indicated is open to anyone - they are focused on helping the newbies (like me) get better and on networking. They even have dinner provided (donations encouraged for that, but it is good).
