Jason,
Thaks for your interest.
You may have missed it and I'll address your question below, but I think the answers to most of your questions will be on this page of our website:
Photographers
The DPA is a membership organization. There are lots of great associations out there, several of which I am a member of, but we were looking for one where members would actually work together to develop business. Thus the DPA was founded on the idea of independent togs sharing best practices and working together to develop their independent business as well as working on joint business.
As far as a "terms for photographers" or a "contract", while we do have some guidelines for membership, we do not ask anyone to sign any kind of formal agreement.
The value of the $180 annual membership dues is different for each member. A list of benefits is listed under "Why Do Photographers Join the DPA?" on this page:
Photographers
As far as a list of established clients, the DPA itself has no direct clients. Each member has their own clients. The DPA itself does not take in any money other than membership dues which go back into the organization. The DPA has written some agreements with certain publishers to provide photographers when they need coverage. These agreements were written by the DPA on behalf of its members and every member had a say in what was written and agreed to. Each member who chooses to participate in those programs gets paid by the publisher directly.
As mentioned on the website, if you have an interest and have more questions, go ahead and submit the membership application as a first step:

If you meet our member requirements, we will follow up and we can setup a face-to-face meeting with one of our Leaders Group Members before you make your final commitment.
God bless,
Rene
