I know there is a subforum for introductions but it has been my experience that no one ever reads them, also I am in Austin so I will mainly be lurking this forum, with that said:

Hello!

My name is Tess. I have been lurking around a for a while and finally decided to introduce myself. I am pretty new to photography and other than my T1i I have only had point and shoot cameras. I have always enjoyed taking pretty pictures (portraits, cars, and landscapes) however never felt I had the proper equipment to put much effort into my shooting. I'm strictly a hobbyist but eager to learn. I look forward to bugging y'all on how to take better pictures. Cheers!

-Tess

Here is one I took about two weeks ago. I like it because it's a little different with the skyline in the background than your usual shot of Pennybacker. Feel free to critique.

Welcome Tess!
Actually there is a small group of people that do read the intros and respond. Your best tool on here will be the "search" option. Also, submit some photos for critique like you did and you'll be on your way. Good luck!

Hello to you. Actually I'm guessing that more folks read the introductions section than the Austin section.
You're looking for a critique here, I would have maybe gotten a bit lower down so that the top of the bridge doesn't blend in with the top of the background hills.

Welcome. That bridge is always fun to shoot. Don't forget to climb up the other side and shoot towards sunsets..

Welcome Tess. I should be embarrassed that I haven't shot the Pennybacker bridge yet and I've lived in Austin for 3 years now.

Guess I should go introduce myself over there. :embarrassed: The intro section on my other forums is no man's land. I suppose I shouldn't make ass_umptions (we all know what that makes me).

Awesome, thank you for your input! That's a good observation; I agree and had not noticed that. Thanks for the reply.

Don't feel bad. I have lived in Austin my whole life and that is the first time I have ever climbed up there.

Welcome to TPF! The Pennybacker bridge is always fun to photo. I took this one a few years ago, but still love it. My only critique is the time of day that you took it. Try going back out at sunrise or sunset with a tripod. You can get some good light during those hours! Other than that, its a great photo!

I have and it works great as far as the camera is concerned, image stabilization, audio, ect. My only complaint would be slow exposure when trying to capture a photo and filming at the same time, although I generally have little use for this multifunction myself so it's not a big deal to me.
