I'm wanting to get out tomorrow morning and get some baby pictures in the bluebonnets while they're in bloom. Anybody know of any good locations?

I'm heading out today with my family in search of some, just for fun. I'll be sure to come back and share if we have any luck! It's a shame stopping alongside Mopac isn't a good idea, there are lots there, haha.

Yeah, I've not had a chance to travel around looking. I've just seen the ones along the highways. Though, if you go down Wells Branch, check out the big field right in from if The Lakes at Renaissance Park. That field is usually covered in them.

I took 290 over to Dripping Springs and up to Johnson City. Didn't see much until that last small stretch of 4-lane highway going North into Johnson City. There were lots of wildflowers, including bluebonnets, on that stretch.

In the Johnson City limits there is a large field of bluebonnets on the East side of the main road, in the middle of town.

I went North on 281 and then back East toward Austin on 71, which was the best opportunity for bluebonnet viewing. There were large fields along the highway with a picturesque wooden rail fence in the background. Great place for shots but by the time I got there it was too dark!

we took it there, we were looking for Robinson Ranch based on some forum posting but could find the place. We passed The Lakes at Renaissance Park on Wells Branch and took my wife maternity picture there. Before we left we saw a couple and their dog took picture there with a prof photographer. Perfect timing for us, the next day my wife had to go to the hospital and we had our baby the following day.

Here is my wife maternity picture at that location.

Bluebonnets and other wildflowers were in full bloom between Burnet and Llano on Hwy 29. Of course, I didn't have my camera. D'oh.

I know it is a little late (and a little far north for you) but there were several nice patches on 1431 close to RR, heading towards CP

these patches mostly have trees, cactus and other general tx growth behind them, so it is beeter than most "side of the highway" pics, but it is hard to find an angle that doesnt have wire fence behind it (that isnt so bad)

the place I went was really nice. but it was on private property, and I wasnt even supposed to be there

Check out the UT Pickle Research Campus. It is off of Braker and Burnet in north Austin. I am not 100% sure the public has access to it though. I went out there last week and there were beautiful fields of bluebonnets.

Lots of places in and around Round Rock and Georgetown. In Georgetown exit 2338 head out toward sun city. There is some road construction past suncity with some accessible fields just to the sides of the road with some Cedar Trees you can use as a background. If you play your composition right you can also find a ton around Steiner Ranch and in a field just to the west side of the Dell campus next to a hotel that is being built.

If you are willing to go for a nice drive, then Inks lake and the surrounding area has a lot bluebonnet patches. I was there this weekend and it was just beautiful out there. We are thinking about going back next weekend to get some family pictures.
