Hill Country Wildflowers April 17th

April 17th
Cedar Park High School
2150 Cypress Creek Road
Cedar Park, TX 78613

Wanting to see if anyone would like to head out for a day of shooting some wildflowers or whatever looks interesting. Any type of camera is welcome. I am bringing my Large Format 4x5 and 35mm and Digital. I can take 2 to 3 with me depending on how much gear we bring but I thought it would be nice to meet up and just go where the road leads us, no time constraints. Should be a peak weekend for wildflowers.

I couldn't figure out how to post a link with google maps but there is the address.
Time: 9:00 am-ish - We head out

Count me in. I have an SUV that seats 5 with plenty of room in back for gear if needed. I'll bring at least one gobo in case we need it for bright shooting.

I just traveled Highway 29 and then Highway 71 between Llano and Brady yesterday. I can't tell you how absolutely amazing the wildflowers were. Literally 30+ miles of solid wildflowers and the most picturesque scenes imaginable. It's a 2 hour drive, so not sure how far you're wanting to go, but it would be worth it.

I'm not sure I'm going to make it Saturday. I had a family obligation come up in the early afternoon. I may be able to tag along for a few hours in my own vehicle.

Hi Faith,

Thats too bad that you may not make it but don't worry about it. I want to start doing some groups shoots on a monthly basis like maybe a theme trip like "Old Churches" or "Urban" or usually just go out and find interesting things to shoot.

Did you get some nice pictures on your trip if you did post them I would like to see.

Rob

I'd love to go on some group shots, I'll look forward to hearing about them.

Surprisingly I didn't take a single picture. All I had with me was my point and shoot camera and it was so beautiful that it truly wouldn't have done the scenes justice. I intend to go back later this week and take pictures. I haven't seen anything so breathtakingly beautiful in recent memory.

Sounds like fun but saturdays are almost impossible for me, especially in the mornings.

As an fyi, I drove to College Station yesterday. Went out 290 to 21 on the way there and there wasnt a whole lot of bluebonnets at all out that way. Came back up 21 and then back across on 79 thru Taylor. Theres a couple of ok patches out by Manor but not much else past that.

Yeah, my site is down right now. Was in the middle of redoing the site and I kind of got sidetracked, lol.

Which RC site are you on? RC Files?

Sounds like great fun and I'd love to join some folks for a day, but I'm out this weekend.

I would really encourage you to try to make the Willow City Loop just off Hwy 16 between Llano and F'burg. We made it Saturday and it's truly spectacular!

Good luck and good shooting.

Ah, a lurker, heh heh. If you ever need anything over there, hit me with a PM. Taking pics of RC will definately make you a better photog imo. I need to get back out and shoot some more soon myself.

Yeah, looks like it might not be a great weekend coming up. But of course, this is Texas, so you never know.
