I did the Pennybacker experience. Normal shots, nothing original for you guys, but new for me. Terrible amount of fun. Since I'm so new to this style of photography, major learning curve.
I want to give you some background and context for a moment; share a little about myself.
I had a rare form of lymphoma in 2008, eight months in a hospital bed, very sick. This year the medical hell continued through September, when they figured out my immune system was shot from the cancer and chemo.
I share this because I made a vow that if I lived and got to start over in life, I would indeed start over. I am living that out as of last Friday. Quit my job, taking a two week sabbatical to do pics and visit friends, and I have had so far four of the most intensely fun days of my life.
Climbing that rocky trail up to the scenic overlook, dragging along my new thinktank bag chock full of gear, was rough for me. I am getting my strength back after three years of terrible medical hell. When I got to the top overlooking the river, I had a lump in my throat. I couldn't tear up much as I was short of breath lol.
I was up there for three or so amazing hours, capturing the changing light, sunset, the bridge. Oh my, what an inspiring experience.
And that was just the start. I've now filmed a senior, did a full day on the riverwalk, and the san Antonio missions. I had an amazing interaction at mission san Jose, simply amazing. I'll post the you tube link shortly. Bottom line, a fella is restoring some very impressive sculpting around the church door. I happen to catch him at a rare moment and he opened up and shared so much about the work and how he was taking such an amazing work and restoring it to it's former glory.
Now I'm on my way to buescher state park for a few quiet days of camping and more photography.
I will eventually get around to sharing some of my pics on here. Christmas coming and all things considered, it will be few weeks I imagine.
I really have enjoyed this forum so far and appreciate the responses and follow up. Seems the people here not only desire photography, but also desire to enjoy the people who take pictures.
Let me tell you something, value people, value life, and enjoy the journey. I'm 46 and almost died at the age of 44.
Thanks for asking, more to come in the future. I have a state park awaiting!
