Talking 4/30 & 5/1: Texas Rowing Championships @ Festival Beach - 04-28-2011, 10:01 PM

Austin Rowing Club and the Asian American Cultural Center are holding a sprint regatta (1000m) interspersed with dragon boat races! (more info here!) As for rowing, I know the juniors row on Saturday morning, and the masters are on Sunday morning.

I'll be racing Sunday morning, so afterwards I'll be posted up on the 35 bridge and along the trail getting shots. there's a little dock for spectators (AKA people with giant teles and tripods) to stand around on, but as long as you can see the lake, you can get some good shots.

hopefully the rain forecast won't ruin things...

I'll be competing on behalf of the Greater Houston Rowing Club. you don't have to say hi to me, but if you have a free hour or two, stop by! rowing is fun to shoot, and probably something you haven't seen too often in sports photography portfolios ;]

I shot the dragon boat races back in 2009. It was pretty cool to see. I shot most of these from the dock, and probably should have moved to the bridge. It was fun to watch for sure. They have great food there too. Enjoy, and good luck at your races!

thanks! this is one of the smaller TRC regattas so I thought I'd put the word out there. didn't know the dragon boat races would be running at the same time, so it should be fun to see.
