Round Rock/Cedar Park/Georgetown Roll Call!

So I've been looking at meetup.com for a group to join, and they almost all require going into downtown Austin, which is not always the most convenient or easy for people like me in Round Rock/Cedar Park/Georgetown.

I'm wondering if there are any other photographers, videographers, models, makeup artists, etc. who might be interested in starting/joining a group like this:

Peirao Group

Basically, they get together monthly to shoot photos, videos, share props and models, gear, and ideas. Everybody gets to use the material they produce for practice or portfolios, and it's just a fun time of networking and shared passion for visual art. Here's a video of one of their events:

This is something that interests me, as long as Leander gets to play too ;-)

But don't plan anything around me - I work downtown Austin every day and most of my nights/weekends are taken up with the photography work or with kid centered activities. So if you have something planned, let me know and maybe I can make it.

I don't have anything firm planned yet in terms of a meetup event. I just want to find a decent handful of folks who could make a group like this work - photographers and models, mostly, but videographers, props people, makeup artists and all kinds of other creatives are wanted too!

So if we get 8-10 people who want to give it a go, then I'll organize the event.

I've been trying desperately here and on other forums to recruit some people to get a creative group together, and I'm just getting so little interest. I'd still love to make it happen though if we can get even a good mix of 4 or 5 photogs and models. An MUA would be nice too.

Yeah, I haven't found a MUA yet that's interested. I can post on MM to see if there's interest, but honestly, it MAY be worth just doing something with even 2 or 3 people to start and then beginning to build it up from there.

I would be interested in getting together with some fellow photogs. It would nice to maybe have a style of photo shoot every month. So count me in, Im in Cedar Park.

If you are still interested in doing meetups, art events, and networking opportunities in which real photography is involved, both location and studio, I am now an event organizer for JuJu Foto Factory in Austin.

We have free meetup events, location networking outings, and advanced workshops with stylists and MUAs.

We do not currently have any north-of-Austin events scheduled, but perhaps if we get some north Austin folks to join, we might be able to schedule some.

Otherwise, if you are interested in being able to use lots of pro studio gear and meeting other creatives - we have lighting techs, MUAs, video people, and plenty of photographers - you should join the JuJu Foto Factory meetup group. It's worth it!

I love the idea of the meetup group, but it has one line that I don't know that I can meet because of scheduling:

"P.s. This group will be for active creatives only. Members must attend at least 2 meetups semi annually to remain a part of the group. We'll do an assesment every 6 months, lurkers and non participants will be removed."

So that is 4 meetups a year, 1 ever 3 months. Most meetups tend to be on days/times that I struggle with.

I'll join and would look for northern meetups :)
