where is the "welcome to austin" mural?

This is a discussion on where is the "welcome to austin" mural? within the Austin forums, part of the Texas category; i've seen some pics with it but nobody ever posts where it is with the pictures!...

yes, that is exactly what i'm looking for. i've seen some neat family pics taken there in some photog's portfolios but don't know if that is "allowed" as far as copyright issues go. does anybody know who owns it?

Happened to be there last night. It's just painted on the side of a building. As to who 'owns' it, do you mean the copyright to the original postcard, or to the mural art. (not sure which came first!) Billy Brakhage & Rory Skagen have the credit in the Chronicle and their name is on the mural too.

South First and Annie, about 4 blocks north of Oltorf, on the North West corner. Doesn't get much of light at sunset, though that's the general direction it faces. But it's in open shade around that time of day.

Second shot shows some context - not a lot of room in front of it to set up tripods or anything and there's quite a bit of traffic on first and turning the corner.

South First and West Annie...........Northwest corner the picture shown is looking due east on annie and the intersection is south first. It is on the side of the Neon Relic building
