I'm a newbie at this too... but maybe we could take suggestions on where to meet? I was originally thinking Killeen since most who have shown interest are from there, but we have interest from Waco too, so now I'm not sure. I'm up for wherever.

Anyone ever planned a meeting before? We need tips!

BTW, I just signed up for the Basic Photography class @ Central Texas College, which starts on Jul 9th, 6-9pm. It's a 35mm class, but you learn about lighting, better picture techniques, and common problems for 35mm and digital photography. We're supposed to bring 5-10 of our best and worst photos to class the first day. And we'll also be going on field trips...I feel like a kid! LOL I'm so excited! I hope to learn more from this.

As for our get-together, I can ask the instructor where the good places are around here to shoot. That is if we don't meet up until after Jul 9th. You all let me know. Maybe I'll see some of you in class!

Locally some places to consider would include the Killeen downtown if you're interested in urban renewal, the revitalization of a downtown that used to be a center of local commerce.

Chalk Ridge Falls Park (Stillhouse Dam) is a decent area for nature shots. That has us going toward Belton.

Temple has a small train museum. It is decent. I went there once a few years ago and would go again.

Cove has a nice park.

Those are just a couple of ideas. I'm sure there are many more great spots. Unlike a park and walk Austin, we may have to caravan to a few spots around here unless we sit and really focus on shots.

My vote is def for downtown Killeen!

I was out at Chalk Ridge w/ some clients last weekend and it was COVERED up. People swimming, walking everywhere, not a great place for pics right now, IMO.

But, I can't this weekend. I'm outta town. I need a tad bit more notice...
