Bat Fest 2007 - 09-02-2007, 01:01 AM

Went to Bat Fest 2007 this evening from around 7:00 PM to around 11:00 PM and took some photos of some of the musicians performing. IMHO, Papa Mali and Ray Wylie Hubbard played some really great music.

Thanks.

I saw zero lite effects (I wasn't looking that hard, as I've never had much luck photographing the bats at the Congress Avenue Bridge) and I heard several folks that were looking for the bats complaining about not really being able to see the bats, as they didn't come out until after dark. I had also heard about the light effects, but never heard any "ooh's" and "ahh's" while the bats were leaving the bridge.

It wasn't very easy to move around on the bridge, as the crowd was rather intense in size, as the below photo sorta' indicates.

I ran under the bridge this morning and saw they had several floods set up with red gels - looks like it from that last picture below too.

I suspect the red, while being cool is also to not (further) blind the blind bats!
