I have a 75-300 (non IS) that I could use, but only if it's bright enough outside...ain't the fastest lens around. I will have my 28-135 IS by then, but I can't tell if it will be long enough to get some nice tight shots (I'm not sure how big the pens are).

The 75-300 would be great, you don't need IS, bump the ISO up a little and it will do fine.
It was cloudy the day I was out there and really had no problems at all. I was using the 50-200 and my flash with the soft box (no IS).
Here is the gallery, now if you look at the EXIF, with the Oly E1 the factor is times 2, so at 200mm its 400mm

Great shots Bill. That's good news that the lenses I have should work fine. Does having an off camera flash help that much? I don't have one yet so I'll either have to rent a 580/550 or just deal with my popup flash.

With the 20D I think you could do ok without the flash, at ISO 800, but the flash and a soft box of some type would sure help.
But then I think some of the others here could help you better.

Are you coming in the night before ?

Generally I prefer to shoot without flash anyway so I think I'll be alright.

Yes I'm planning on coming up the night before. My wife is contemplating coming along for the ride and we might head to Plano or Ft. Worth for the rest of the day since the shoot will be over at 9am.
