Hey you guys. Thought I'd start a Pennybacker Bridge post. It's one of the most recognizable locations in the state. Post your best photos!

Here's mine:

D2X, 12-24mm f/4 DX, Harrison & Harrison custom 87 IR filter (77mm thin), NC4.3 + border in CS2
12mm, f/5.6, 30sec, ISO 400, sometime around 9:00am

I normally don't care too much for IR photos, but I must say I do like this one. Well done.

Awesome shot! The cloud movement really makes the shot for me.

I just posted this the other day in another thread, but here's my favorite shot of the bridge:

(Olympus C-2100UZ - 16s f/5.0 at 7.0mm iso100)

great shot! - 07-26-2005, 09:34 AM

Nice shot, Greg. I've been meaning to get over there and get a night shot of the bridge, but I haven't done it yet. When I get really adventurous, I'm going to go get the old bridge that crosses the Colorado as you go out Airport Blvd to the ABIA.

Where are you all standing to take good pics of the bridge. What trail, parking, etc?

directions - 07-26-2005, 03:14 PM

It's easy to get to. All you have to do is drive out 2222 to 360 and go south for about half a mile. there is some parking on the right just before the bridge. look for the trail that leads up to the overlook. It's no more than a 2 or 3 minute walk to the top.

Do pay attention for No Parking signs though. I got a ticket the last time I was out there. I think the area close to the road right up next to the cliff is marked for no parking.

My offering. - 07-27-2005, 12:17 AM

Shot quite a while back and posted here. Taken early on a Sunday morning to avoid the normally heavy traffic. ( No post processing w/2mpxl Olympus)

It may have changed (parking ), but you must be at least 10 feet off of the road by state law.
Regards,
Mickey

parking - 07-27-2005, 05:14 PM

I didn't see any no parking signs, but that doesn't mean it's okay to park there. i was there early on a sunday morning as well, so my chances of getting fined were probably less.

It's illegal in the State of Texas to stop, stand, or park within 100 feet of a bridge, viaduct, or tunnel.

Stopping, standing, or parking are all car related terms.

ummm...how is standing a car related term? i'm certain i can stand within 100 feet of a bridge. There are a ton of bridges that actually have pedestrian access. Besides, the area I parked was well over 100 feet (probably closer to 400 feet) from the bridge. What I don't know is whether I was 10 ft off the road - but it would have been close.

BACK TO THE POINT OF THIS THREAD - ANYONE ELSE HAVE PHOTOS THEY WANT TO POST OF THE 360 BRIDGE?

Here's one of a sunrise from down by the boat ramp (SouthEast of Bridge):

I assume you're probably refering to shooting from the cliffs on the northeast shore. I've always wanted to shoot from there just because its the perfect direction to catch the sunset. However, I walked over there and there was a no trespassing sign at the bottom of the trail. That said, I know I've seen people up there and it's been a few years since I walked over there.
