Should clarify looking for a good room with great character and bedding for a shoot at a reasonable rate.

Depends on what you consider reasonable. My suggestion would be the Hotel San Jose in the wonderful SoCo district.

Well, it's not exactly Austin, but it is no more than 90 minutes away and a great place in Hill Country that will very much absorb a photographer. The times I have been there, they have been very photographer friendly.

I like the Hotel San Jose. Also the Mansion on Judge's Hill. Great Austin locations.

You should check out www.thewinfieldinn.com. They are located in Kyle, but it's only a 15 minute drive from Austin. I has that old plantation look and it's located on 35 wooded acres. It's beautiful!

Perfect place. Watching the sun set on Enchanted Rock is worth the trip. Photographing on Enchanted Rock is worth the trip.

The San Jose rate is totally reasonable! The grounds are amazing. The rooms have beautiful lighting and furniture.
