Anyone planning on being at the Muddy Buddy Adventure Race - 05-14-2008, 06:41 PM

I will be in the "Austin area" this weekend (May 16-19) for the Muddy Buddy Adventure Race. http://www.muddybuddy.com/events.php?id=5
. Anyone from the area planning on being there Sunday? Our group is staying at McKinney Falls State Park and the race is Sunday near Pedernales Falls State Park.

Any "must shoot" areas at either park? I will have all day Saturday to shoot at McKinney Falls State Park and will be shooting our teams Sunday morning at Pedernales Falls State Park.

Thanks for any information. BTW all I have to work with at the time is 50mm1.8 and 28-200mm 3.8 and a kit 18-55(non VR) on a D70

I just hope the weather holds

I'll be out at McKinney Falls SP Saturday morning doing trail maintenance on the Homestead trail (which I planned and help build) with the Central Tx Trail Tamers. Since we just had a bunch of rain, both sets of falls at the park should be looking good. Also the old McKinney homestead and mill, if you're into old falling down buildings. There are two different trail systems in the park, one is a paved hike and bike trail on the camping side, and the other is the Homestead trail across Onion Creek. It's a dirt trail. Make sure you make it to that side of the creek, unless the water is so high you can't get across. And watch for rattlesnakes, my friend got bit backing up to take a photograph.
Now Pedernales Falls SP is another deal. Make sure you have some time to photograph the falls there. They are not really just one waterfall, it's more a series of steps and falls and chutes and cataracks going on for about a half a mile. Very impressive. Same deal, since it just rained a bunch, you should have good flow.

Thanks for the info. Hmmmm Trail maintenance huh? My group may look into helping with that. The company we work for is big into such things.

Keep the info flowing.

Maybe you should have left out that part about the rattle snake bite if you want people to come try the trail!

Man what a fun weekend. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunatly I did not end up with as much "free time" as I thought so i was not able to check any of them out, but did get some decent shots the day of the race.
