What's wrong with Precision camera?

Nothing for this kind of stuff. I was just hoping for a place locally that didn't have a 40% retail markup.

I have some real issues with their salespeople behind the lens counter.

I don't know if Camera Coop (used to be on South Congress) is still in business or not. Aside from them, you might luck out at a Wolf/Ritz, but that's about it.

Are you saying that there is no B&M store that mark up there stuff? I would email Precision and see if they will pricematch or how close they can pricematch other online stores such as B&H. Has worked for me in the past.

If you need filters right away you can try craigslist or wolf/ritz, but Precision will have the largest selection in Austin. If you know what you want, you can always post a WTB ad in the Buy and sell section for the austin area. Now if you can wait, you can always buy online and have them expedite an order.

Yeah, I would probably post something up on craigslist. A lot of people with too much time and interest in swapping equipment troll those ads all day long. I've had good look putting WTB ads up there.

And -1 for Precision. I try to support them as much as I can, but the last 3 times I've gone in, I've gotten hoorrrrible customer service. In fact, the last time I was there, looking for a bag, an employee helping me was like "Sorry, this must seem like horrible customer service..." and gives me a shrug and walks away. I emailed their sales manager about all of it (didn't get a reply, duh) saying how I want to support local businesses by buying offline as much as I can, and they're making it very difficult. I can go home, find exactly what I want online, and order it for about 25% less $$$. Ugh.

I've been there once. It was a couple of weeks ago on graduation weekend. It happened to be their Nikon sale days weekend. To say they were packed is an understatement. I never mentioned it being my first visit or anything that would hint at special treatment. Even with the chaos I was helped and felt very comfortable there. Maybe it was my Texas Dad cap my daughter gave me but whatever it was they get a +1 from me.
