Renting Lenses? - 09-07-2008, 04:00 PM

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I was wondering if anyone here located in Austin was willing to loan / rent out their Canon 10-22 or Tamron 17-50. Theres an even I'm going to in late October with a press-pass and am wanting to shoot with either of those two lenses.

If anyone knows of a shop that will rent these lenses, or if you have them yourself, please let me know.

It's greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the camera shops in Austin for rentals? We have one in Ft. Worth that rents camera gear.

Also, there are several online rental places. I am looking at borrowlenses.com for an upcoming Grand Canyon trip.

Precision Camera rents lenses. You can pick up a list of what's available from them or check their site. They are located on North Lamar.

I recently rented a 135L f/2.0 from BorrowLenses.com. The two week rental (including shipping) came to $100. That was a lot cheaper than the $1100 purchase price. Besides, I wanted to check it out and see if it is what I need for volleyball.

The box came with a prepaid return shipping label and instructions when it had to be postmarked. No guessing. It was a perfect transaction.

I had checked several other rental places, but they were out of stock at the time.
Two day FedEx shipping got it here quick.

Hope this helps.

I've only used www.lensrental.com and find these folks to be top notch. I haven't found anyone else that can touch their prices and they do seem to have the largest inventory of different kinds of lens, also.
