I'm shooting the 7th Annual Responsible Parenting Award ceremony to be held Tuesday 12/16 at the Palmer Events Center. The event is sponsored by
Child Inc, a local non-profit dedicated to improving parenting skills and early childhood education in low-income families.
The culmination of the event is the awarding of 10 donated, refurbished automobiles to deserving families. This event has steadily grown over the years (from 4 cars to 10) and is getting too large for one photographer to cover, especially during the rather hectic "unwrapping" phase.
I need an assistant photographer (NOT a "photographer's assistant") to help cover the event, which lasts about 4 hours starting in the early afternoon. The work will involve roaming the crowd and taking candids and informally posed shots, as well as covering the "unwrapping" of the automobiles.
This is a charity event I do every year, and for which I charge Child Inc a very reduced rate. I can pay the assistant $150.
The photographer will retain ownership of his/her images, but must be willing to:
- grant to the sponsor permanent, non-exclusive rights to use the images for any purpose
- provide full-resolution high-quality RAW image files on CD or DVD.
Here's a set of additional requirements:
- At least some experience with event photography
- Digital SLR gear capable of shooting 8MP or greater in RAW format, with an appropriate lens for this type of work. I'd prefer Canon CR2 format but Adobe DNG will also work.
- External flash with diffuser. The ceiling is 50 feet high and dark so bounce flash will not be possible.
