Hey Jack even though the moon did not come out to play. I like the shot what exposure did you use.

I tried a lot of different settings last night. This pic was F4.5, ISO 100, 30 sec. exposure.

I was disappointed with the overcast skies also but did manage this handheld shot the next evening. Picture is heavily cropped shot with 70-200 f2.8 ISO 400 1/1600 sec at F4.0. The moon is not suppose to be this bright nor closer to earth again until 2017.
