Does anybody know where parking will be available tomorrow morning? Anybody else plan on taking some photos of the marathon?

I went last year and showed up a couple of hours late, and was able to park and walk about 5 blocks from the finish line.

Hi Nick,
My wife is running in the 1/2, so we'll be there bright and early 5:30ish (ugh). We're going to park over at TxDOT - Riverside at Congress, behind the Sonic. It's our ususal spot for the downtown events like the Cap10K, etc.

As of tonight, my shot list will include:
1) race prep
2) .5 -1m (?) looking up Congress to the Capitol
3) 6m South First St. bridge area
4) Somewhere around the finish line - again with Capitol

15th St @West (overlooking Lamar) would be pretty cool, but I don't think I'll be able to hoof it all the way over there. My wife is the runner, not me

Steve

I was up in Austin today to shoot some bridals and we couldn't get anywhere near the capitol due to the marathon. Luckily she was ok with a skyline shot from the long centr and some on UT at the foutain with the tower in the background...

She should have put on some running shoes and gotten in on the action!

After battling allergies all week, and coming very close to skipping the event, my wife finished the 1/2 marathon in 2:30:09. Not bad for someone who couldn't breath on Friday.

It's an early start to the morning. (Thank goodness for Image Stabilization!)

A few friends out for a little morning exercise.

Hey Nick, nice photos. I really like the two with motion blur. Catches the emotion of the event.
But can someone explain to me the guy carrying the time sign? The last marathons I ran were in the mid 1980's, and I ran 3:15 - 3:20's, but I don't remember any folks with time signs running. Is he pacing runners to maintain that time?
