I’ve decided to start selling my photography work on my website: urban, street, flowers, still images, landscape, etc.
Is anyone doing this? How successful is it? How do you market?

Yeah but an electronic payment website is really difficult to manage by yourself (security, hacker, ID ...) so I think local craigslist or eBay is an ideal for a start. Regards and good luck with your business.

You might do better using a 3rd party. I know a couple of people who do that and it works out very well. The 3rd party markets their site as an art site and they run off posters of your work. Every time someone buys your stuff, they cut you a check.

third party - 05-26-2009, 09:24 PM

Hi Holly,

I would be interested in talking with someone you know that is using one of these third parties. Would you be willing to PM me with some information or have them get in touch with me? I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Greg

Are you referring to licensing your digital files as stock imagery or selling prints? These are quite different things.

@texxter- not really interested in stock
@ka5tx - already on smugmug

I was really curious if anyone sales via internet with success. If so, how do they market their product?
