I don't normally answer posts in this section, but I have to speak on this one: I know exactly what you mean! I have a publisher that has no clue whatsoever of what it takes to do the _jobs_ I have...I ended up telling him that one time, and he took offense, saying that I was condescending. All I was saying is that if you don't do the job or haven't done it, you don't really know what it takes to do it...

I don't believe anyone disputed that doing photography for a living isn't a full time job. In my defense, I believe I said that I couldn't attend because I had a non-photography full time job. Which means, I have a specified lunch "hour" and cannot drive 100 miles one way for lunch during the week. My days are structured by someone else and if I want to get paid, I have to abide by that structure.

I think most people probably meant what Debbie said, which is that they don't have the flexibility during the day to get away from the full-time non-photography job. I doubt that people here don't realize that professional photographers are busy during their days as well.

I've seen the comments in the past and make a specific point to not infer that photography is not a "real" job. I've done enough weddings to know that a photographer's job makes mine look a vacation.
