Does anyone use pounds for processing? I see they also have the possibility to do a website with selling. Anyone use this?? What are your opinions...

I have used Pounds Labs for over thirty years and they always come through for me. I recently did a group shot on Thursday evening, uploaded it by 9:00 p.m. with rush instructions. They called me at 11:00 Friday morning to tell me my 135 8X10s were ready to be picked up. They gave me a quantity discount and didn't even charge rush charges.

They used to have labs in Houston, Austin and Dallas, but with most photographers using FTP to upload their images, they consolidated all processing to Dallas. I usually get one day delivery so most orders are back to me in less than a week.

I have my own website, but am considering switching to Pounds.

I was looking at their website options, and was amazed...it looked like almost everything photographers want. Yet I haven't heard much about them...so I wondered.

You don't hear much about them because most of the folks on this and other photography forums are not professionals who can afford to pay the higher prices of the professional only labs.
I use Millers and BWC. Lots of folks never heard of them.

I've been using FullColor in Dallas and am currently running a test with Millers. How would you compare them to Pounds?

I just switched from Miller's to Pounds.. I had a rocky start, but I am going to continue to use them. At Texas School, they gave out a discount card if you swithed to them.. Call them and Talk to CARL. He is fabulous! I only have done Pick A Pac with them and it was the first time to do Pick A Pac it was great. I am about to do a Layflat ablum with them... Hope it is great too!

I use Miller's for everything except canvases.. for those, I use Canvas On Demand.

The only product I see at Pounds that I might be interested in is the easel back chromaluxe stuff... but I have one on display (from another lab) and no one has ever ordered one. LOL

I wasn't impressed with them at Texas School. Where everyone else was offering prints to try and get us to switch, Pounds only seemed interested in offering free prints if we promised to switch to their lab.

My partner and I use Pounds exclusively. We are pleased with their pricing structure and their print times. If I order on Monday morning, My package is almost always here in Austin on Wednesday by noon. I can live with that. I like the idea of being able to pick up my prints and look at them at their counter. They are more than happy to answer any and all questions. We feel their order software is easy to use. We have started looking at ther website offerings, but haven't reached that point yet.

I disagree with the statement made about the professional only labs prices. I find pricing at Pounds very fair. All you need to have is a tax number and a DBA. If you are selling pictures, that means you are in business, so you would/should have these items anyway, right? And isn't Miller's a professional lab?

Respectfully,
