Rice University changes photographer policy - 07-13-2009, 06:24 PM

So how do you feel about Rice changing their policy and now charging $50 per session to shoot bridals?
They claim it's in response to photographers that have complained about the $125 annual fee but only shoot one bridal there a year....

Maybe they could give you the option. One time or annual.

it would have been nice if they had, but with the new system, they make more money so I don't see them changing...
If I have 4 bridal sessions there a year, I pay them $250 vs the $125 I used to pay...

It's just a cost of doing business that get's passed onto the client.

4X $50.00 = $200.00 5X $50.00 = $250.00

i'm not particularly happy about that either - if you are going to change it - change it at the beginning of the calendar year... not in the middle for those of us that have already paid.

I am so happy I have a studio and do not have to worry about this kind of thing. Green screen is wonderful.

and I realize it's the cost of doing business and "unfortunately" not all of my clients want to shoot in a studio (even though I have access to one if I need it) and I like making them happy

@Janet - if you have already paid, you get some type of credit for "unused" sessions

I don't like the new policy. I go there a lot and hate to have to pay $50 every time.

You shouldn't ever pay it. The client does.
