Inside Venue Ideas for Dallas area - 07-13-2009, 09:18 PM

Okay I'm hoping you all can come to my rescue yet again : )

I'm doing a bridal shoot in September. She has a very long train, so I can't do her pics in my studio and since the beading is so intricate she can't have it cleaned so an outdoors shoot is out. Now the last problem to the equation is that she's maxed on her budget so any place with a location fee is out as well. Though if I found a place that was perfect that didn't cost too much I'd take it out of my own pocket. (If only I could get the Dallas Museum of Art to just rethink their $250 fee!)

She's the sweetest bride and I really want these to be just something special for her. She's one of those people who has a pink light around her and just makes you smile. I've done some shoots in local hotels that have turned out great, but the staircases always still look like hotel stair cases no matter how upscale the hotel is (Omni & Reinnasance) and I just want something different.

Thanks guys and in advance thanks for all your help!

Jenn

You want it to be something special for her BUT she doesn't seem willing ($$$)... you might want to rethink that. Brides always go over budget and want the photographer to give it all to her but not pay for it.
(I wish I knew someplace that might work.)

How much does Bass Hall charge? It's very pretty there.
Maybe look at renting another studio?
Not sure about that. I do mostly out door shoots.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide!

Go to some of the upper p[rice range model homes and see if the builder will let you shoot there in exchange for a photo?

Where is she having the wedding or reception? They may allow an early bridal session if she is using them for the event. The Aldredge House on Swiss rents out for bridal portraits - I think. Not sure the cost, though. A friend had her bridal portrait done inside, looking out the gorgeous glass door and it was spectacular. It also has a nice staircase. In Ft. Worth, Thistle Hill has a gorgeous staircase. Don't know if it rents out for bridal portraits and it may be pretty far for you. I have a friend that lives in Starwood in Frisco - she has a gorgeous staircase as well. Maybe I should ask her if she rents out her house for portraits! It would be perfect.

There is a hotel at the corner of Oaklawn and Cedar Springs, and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. Dont know if they charge or not, but it is really pretty inside.

It used to be the Melrose. Now it is Warwick Melrose. http://www.warwickmelrosedallas.com/

The Stoneleigh on Maple is another old hotel - recently redone. Personally, my fav is a very small, intimate little hotel on Maple, the St. Germaine. It would be a beautiful place to shoot a bridal - don't know if they would allow it though. Can't hurt to inquire.
