Ok, so i was wondering is your site a flash cms and how do you edit it and also who did you buy it from or who designed it and how muc??? Also i LOVE your photos espically the baby ones!

Okay... I'm thinking a photographer. Probably...new photographer? Definitely. But seriously... would you respond?

I usually do, cause I'm one of those really nice people who thinks that you should always pay it forward.

But time is money... and I seem to have less of both lately... lol... what can I say -it interfers with my TPF posting, and political debating on another forum while I work my day job... *grin*

How far out of your way do you go to help 'new' photographers?

And just as a side note: I use the "..." option way to often... primarily cause I type as I talk/think... but seriously... SOME punctuation would help a bit.


A previous email that I received - that went to an email my name at dbeardphotography.com - asked for my website address. Seriously? I just responded that it was in the email that they sent their email to.

In all seriousness - how much help DO you give to 'new' photographers? How much do you expect of THEM to do on their own?

I routinely get "offers" to help a design student from UNT produce images for their mock campaign. I've offered substantial amounts of advice and even one offer to help a kid if he had his ducks in a row.

NEVER ONCE HAD AN ACCEPTANCE OR THANK YOU.

I used to, don't anymore.

If they really want help they can do research, send you a well worded email, call, or better yet get on a forum like TPF!

This is pretty interesting that this came up today. I actually got a former client, who I adore, emailed me asking questions about how to start in the biz. I told her a few things *I* did, and gave her TPF and TPPA's sites.

I figure it's good Karma. Send someone in the right direction and it could end up in a referral one day! Plus, this customer is really sweet, so maybe not the same thing as a stranger asking. But I still think its good Ju Ju~!

I usually answer them. How long does it take to say site if from Blu, Blog is customized wordpress, and I like pink roses? You never know who is who. And being courteous something that is just necessary to be in business. We get tons of emails and PM from other photogs daily. Its part of being successful. btw - congrats! You know you dont suck too much when you have fans. lol. At least that's how I look at it. The old skool PPA folks probably still think I suck though. ha ha.

I would pick and choose what you offer. I am still new and always have a lot to learn, but have discovered a lot on my own. I think if it is your passion, then you will figure out what you really want. I never really ask other photogs specific questions, but my own passion for learning and knowledge has gotten me there on my own, now I just need more income to get there!
