Question for school photographers - 08-04-2009, 02:30 PM

Hi y'all~
Anyone photograph school ID photos? Have charter high school that wants me to photograph the ID photos and provide them with the ID's. Any recommendations on vendors for the ID's -- simple ones that can be attached to a lanyard.

Thanks in advance!
Anh

Student IDs are usually part of the contract photography package. If one of the national companies does not already have a contract with this school I would guess that there is no money there. Are you looking for work without pay?

Mr. Barnes,
I greatly respect who you are and your position in this industry. However, I didn't post this to get questioned on whether I'm looking to work for no pay. My business is my only source of income, so no sir, I do not work for free.

That being said, this high school is a small charter school that I have done business with last year. I'm glad that there are smaller schools out there that want to do business with my small, one-person studio and not a large national company. And, yes, I have the contract for this school for the upcoming school year -- yearbook photos, athletics photos, school organization photos, etc. They asked me to add the school ID photos in the contract and I need to find a vendor so that I can give them an appropriate price, so that I may be paid before I shoot the ID photos. While they may not have the kind of huge volume that other photographers expect before doing business with them, I have gained additional business from other private schools and church organizations, through my relationship with this school. I think that is just as important.

This is the exact reason that I stopped coming onto this forum. I post to ask for advice or recommendations from an experienced photographer and I get 'beat down.' Thanks but no thanks...I'll just wade through this by myself.

Lots of places on the web.

Here is an example:
http://www.school-id-badges.com/school_id_badges.html

Note they require the school to mail the photos.

I agree you don't need a SA answer for asking a simple question.

I didn't intend to offend you. If you had given this information in the first place, I would have told you to check with your lab. My lab offers several different varieties of student ID badges as part of their school division. I apologize, but since you don't post here much I confused you with some of the clueless newbs we get occasionally.

This thread has me scratching my head. I didn't see a smart-A answer anywhere...
Messages in text can be easily misconstrued since they fail to convey the emotion that voice conveys.
It seems to be the norm however, to look for ways to be offended.

This message offends me. I'm just trying to be normal. he said with his tongue firmly implanted in his cheek.
