Over the last few months I have been looking around for a good location to open a studio, I have figured out I don't have enough clients at the moment to be able to afford the amount space I would want on top of other expenses I currently have.
This got me thinking, I don't always use studio space for shoots as some clients request outdoor pics, etc. plus I don't like being stuck inside all day anyway.
Which leads me to the main topic of this thread, would there be enough interest in a co-op type studio similar to Studio Arlington in the west houston/katy area? (wish i lived close to Arlington, this would be alot easier :P)
Basically you would pay a monthly fee that would gives you a certain block(s) of time each week, plus free use anytime the studio is open.
The studio would consist of a shooting area (maybe multiple shooting areas, depending on amount of interest) consisting of atleast one white infinity wall and a background stand that can be moved in with several 10ft seamless sheets, dressing room/make up room, lobby, office space with projector to proof pics on the wall and restrooms. Would also have wifi and maybe even small editing room with large monitor to hook up laptop (possibly move in my i7 quad core, 12GB ram editing machine with CS3, lightroom2, photomatrix, etc. for a small extra fee per month if you wanted to use it). There would also be atleast one set of lights (min 4) with several softboxes and other modifiers along with wireless triggers.
Price per month would depend on the amount of interest with most of profit from rental would go towards new toys for the studio each month.
Please post here if your interested in this type of setup and please feel free to offer suggestions. |
