CD of Photos - 08-31-2009, 08:40 AM

This has probably been covered some place else, but do any of you ever offer your clients a CD of their images, and if so, what do you charge?

I am just getting started and one of my clients was asking about prices and a CD of the images.

I think I am open to offering low res images on a CD, but not sure how much I should charge (and how many pictures), and how low res I should make them.

I know offering high res can cut into your print profits. Just wondering what everyone else was doing.

Thanks!

If I were going to do this, I would find my average order for each category, add 50% and tell the client it is included with an order reaching that amount. Example: If my average order for a family portrait is $800.00, then for a family portrait order over $1200.00 the disc is included. That way you have actually helped your print sales and not hurt them. I would probably make the images high rez enough to print 8X10 and include a copyright release for personal use.

I found my average order amount and added 25% ...that is the CD price. I get above the average sales with MUCH less cost.plus clients are very happy.

This is for youth sports and performances....
