First off, thanks to so many of the vets on this forum who give good advice to the younger more inexperienced photogs such as myself, especially in the business and legal side of things. Even when your words are harsh and not what people want to hear, you're a blessing to the community and the forum. I hope to give back the way you have to so many folks on here.
I took aerial still shots of the UH vs Texas Tech game a while back for the University. See here:
http://jonnycarroll.blogspot.com/200...n-stadium.html. Since then, I've had a few people contact me about buying prints which I blew off at first. Mostly because I didn't want to deal with checking and making sure it was legit to do so. I later sold an additional release license to the University which would allow them to sell prints and posters with my photos.
Well now, (over a week after the game) I had a sports online site wanting to buy a digital version of one of the photos, as well as others wanting to buy prints. I feel like it's time to face this and make it happen if I can.
Now, our licensing agreement clearly states that I still maintain full copyright, so with that I should be able to print but the zinger is the NCAA event. I have no intention of selling the ground action shots, but can I? and what about the aerials which I didn't attend the game to take..? What am I restricted to, what am I allowed to do? I have every desire to be fully legal and legitimate.
Advice?
Thanks in advance.
