Business Cards.. C&C please - 10-20-2009, 11:44 PM

This is my first attempt at designing some business cards. Please help me decide what to do here... suggestions, mixing and matching ideas, wording etc.

The color in the second is suppose to be pink, once I uploaded it it looked a bit purple.

Thanks :) :)

I'll ask a graphic designer how to shoot my next wedding. Keep in mind not all photographers are blessed or trained in the talents and nuances of graphic design. You will probably receive a boatload of ideas, some good, some not so good. If your identity is important to you, and it should be, I would consult with an expert that has had time to learn your needs. Having said that, as a designer, I would say the 2nd execution is your strongest.

I agree with Mark. If you really want to present a professional image, lose the gmail account, it screams amateur. I might suggest the same goes for a photobucket account.

your webhosting company should be able to direct mail sent to you at your website to your gmail account if that is what you want.

i.e.

Tom@TomThompsonPhotography.com

goes to my long time email address seemlessly

Yes, ok, perhaps I should do the email address switch prior to printing my business cards. My current host is just through blogger, I just purcahsed a domain name and was waiting for a bit more money to come in before I redesigned my actual website.

I just tried to use flickr also, and it didn't work. Is everyone else seeing the red box? I havent' ever had this problem before.

Don- what is better to use than photobucket? Its just what I have always used.

Many of your clients probably use Photobucket also. I didn't mean to imply that there is anything wrong with Photobucket, but as a professional I would prefer to use a service for professionals only. I personally use Labprints for what few images I post online. For our regular clients we do an in person viewing session and order online from a professional lab.

I just ordered more from www.gotprint.com and I must say they are the best cards I have ever seen. The price is great, and they will help you design them. A++++

Don- I don't use photobucket when dealing with clients, just here :) I have a different online gallery that I use.

I had planned to use gotprint.com.. I didn't look at the design part of it, perhaps I should :)

So any more thoughts on the cards?

These are just opinions, so take 'em just for that:

• Simple is better in font choice (no more than two) and design
• Don't make would-be clients turn the card sideways to read anything
• Some people leave white space on the back of the card so people can take notes or write something
• Lots of color gives more opportunity for the colors to be wrong
• Does the photo represent most of your work? If you have a couple of different photo services, consider a different card for each one
