35 Year Class Reunion- How much do I charge? - 10-28-2009, 09:40 AM

I have been approached to take photos for 35-year class reunion.
They want on-site printing.
What is a fair price for 8 x 10 or a 5 x 7 print?

Thanks in advance
Eric

I've never worked a gig like that, but I've been on the organizing team that had to HIRE someone to do this at an author's conference in San Antonio (I would have done it myself, but needed to be involved with the awards ceremony for a large chunk of time a photographer would be needed).

We, as the event organizers, paid the photographer somewhere in the ballpark of $250 to bring her crew and set up backdrop, lights, computer, and printer. She then charged $7 for 4x6 and $10 for 5x7, knowing that the photos would probably be scanned and used on author websites. The prints themselves were terrible quality: bad lighting and an orange cast. It wasn't my job to hire her, and I don't know if whoever did asked for a sample of her work ahead of time or not.

Not exactly the info you asked for, but perhaps helpful anyway, I hope :)

Stacy's prices sound about right. Have you done this type of work before without on-site printing? If not are you capable of handling such a job? You will need a lot of equipment, mainly lights, to do a good job.

I would charge $10 per 5x7 print. But it also depends on the deal. I shot an event last year that I charged $5 for a 5x7 but I asked the event organizer to guarantee a min 600 prints. This was for a non-profit org. I would charge a bit more for others.

You might consider a helper to keep track of the orders and money if you don't already have one.
