Question PPA and Imaging USA - 11-14-2009, 07:45 PM

This evening I was looking into PPA membership, and I noticed that if I join now, I get free registration for Imaging USA.

I've read through the benefits-at-a-glance page on the PPA site, and through the class offerings on the Imaging USA site. It looks like a sweet deal if I can figure out how to get to Nashville and pay for a hotel on the after-Christmas budget.

Those of you who are PPA members, how does membership actually benefit you personally?

And if you've been or plan to go to Imaging USA, what should I expect?

Imaging USA was neat. I sent hubby and stayed home one year. It was worth it.

The PPA - Im a total pusher. If you shoot weddings, the indemnity coverage alone is worth it. An aspiring membership is $12 a month. Plus you get access to all their help including a new benchmark survey that is due out sometime soon. And their lawyers, should you need them. We've also used them for recovery when a drive at itself. (My backups were corrupted). Would have cost a fortune without them. They rock. Anyway, I have no idea what else you can get for the same price that is worth so much. Id tell ya to go for it.

Thanks for the feedback Holly :)

Okay, after looking at it some more, I think I would be going to Imaging USA as much for the written portion of the certification exam as for the classes/networking. In which case, it would behoove me to go with the full professional option. It's less expensive for the membership/registration and for the exam fee to do it that way.

Mulling....
